When you are *3x* consecutive award winners of the Charles H. Wesley Brotherhood Award for the NYACOA district of Alpha, you move in sync with and operate as a unit. Led by lead delegate, Brother Cliff Vital @cliff.simon__ , this weekend, the new initiates of both @alphachapter06 Α and IIΛ chapters went to Buffalo with a sense of purpose - that purpose, doing the business of Alpha. In tandem with this, both chapters received their 3rd consecutive win as Charles H. Wesley Award winners, highlighting their commitment to cross functional work in the name of Alpha. When the founders and precursor to Alpha Phi Alpha looked for a place of refuge in the Ithaca community, they headed to Historic St. James AME Zion Church @st.jamesamezion. Our founder, Dr. Henry Arthur Callis’ father, Henry Jesse Callis, served as Pastor of St. James during his early years in the ministry and young Henry Arthur understood that a tangible connection to the Black community within Ithaca came straight through St. James. As Ithaca, New York’s oldest church, Brothers of the @ithacaalphas joined community leaders in celebrating St. James’ NYS Historic marker unveiling this past Saturday. Duly, our Chapter President, Bro. Gavin Mosley @simply_gmo, presented St. James’ Pastor (also our Chapter Dean), Bro. Terrance King @phavored06, with a $10,000 grant from New York State Electric and Gas for the historic site’s continued preservation.

This past weekend, Brothers of Iota Iota Lambda gathered at historic St. James AME Zion Church to celebrate our Chapter Brother, Taili Mugambee as he presented his first sermon! Brother Mugambee is a 2001 initiate of Eta Sigma Chapter at The University of California, San Diego and currently works on behalf of criminal justice reform at Cornell University.
